Nic Tinworth hates us because we’re assholes
Our fellow readers know how hard we try to make people love to hate us. Well it’s finally paying off. Recently, Nic Tinworth wrote us and gave us a piece of his mind:
Nic, we’ve never heard of you, but we took you up on your shameless self-promotion, and looked at your blog anyway. Aesthetically, it doesn’t make us vomit like most blogs. That is, until we saw the heinous kerning in your nameplate:
You can drive a truck through that gulf between the “A” and “D”! Master typographer, Jan Tschichold, is rolling in his grave. And you call yourself a “designer asshole”? You should be ashamed.
UPDATE: Turns out, it was not Nic who sent us the above email, but someone pretending to be him. The real Nic kindly sent us a correction:
Cheers Horatio - did you actually get an email from my domain then? That’s totally weird…i don’t even know how I or anyone else would have found out about you going to put my shitty blog up there. Oh well…I guess some people like to stir the shit. I’m not gonna ask you to take my site off - but if you could maybe change the facts on the entry so that people don’t go on thinking I am a total asshole - and so that I don’t get any more emails from my journal contact page saying ‘YOU FUCKING SUCK FAGGOT’ that would be totally sweet.

I wonder, how much does one pay to have a “designer assholeâ€? installed? I mean, I have to wonder what makes an asshole designer anyway? Is his square? Shaped like a star? Does it have a locking cover? Is it chrome plated? The concept just boggles the mind…
